| While each of the island's five harbors has its own character, they all have a sense of peace about them which I have tried to capture in these panoramic views. |
| The convenience and proximity to shopping, restaurants and the ferry terminal combine to make this the busiest marina on Bainbridge Island |
| Located in the northeast sector of the island, this bay is home to the Port Madison Yacht Club, which conducts a two-week sailing class for youngsters every summer. The classic old mill houses dating back to the mid-19th century attracted me to this area in 1974, and I still marvel at them as much as ever. |
| Like Port Madison, this harbor also boasted a mill from the mid 19th through the early 20th centuries. Its wide mouth and short length (only one mile) permit the tidal action to do a thorough job of cleansing, maintaining its pristine state. It is located in the southeast sector of the island. The wide angle lens makes downtown Seattle appears further than actual (top panorama is South shoreline, and bottom panorama is the North shore). |

| The view from The Harbour Public House -- also known as the 'Pub' -- may be enjoyed from the waterside deck as well as from windowside tables and booths. This restaurant is a wonderfully remodeled turn-of-the-century farmhouse offering light fare and a wide array of fine beers. Lots of atmosphere, and live music on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. |

In addition to its fine public schools, Bainbridge Island has many private schools for toddlers; preschoolers; kindergarten; elementary and middle, and several Montessori schools which you will find under "Schools" in my "Bainbridge Island" gateway page [see menu on my HomePage]. |
Our public schools measure up superbly against other school districts in Washington State, and after looking at the following physical plant for our students you may wish to check out the comprehensive report linked to my "Available Literature" page; click the link for "Guide to Schools" for a comparison with Seattle area schools. |

The Bainbridge Island Park & Recreation District is very active and has programs in which all ages may participate. The District's program is published quarterly and may be requested directly from the District or from me. |
This park is the most heavily used by Islander's as it includes fields for baseball, volleyball, soccer, as well as for events such as cross-country and many other uses; this park literally comes alive in the fall when school begins. There are too many events to enumerate here; however, the jogging trail is one of the island's favorites, and it also has a nature trail to a beach. |
This playground for youngsters was physically built by island parents and businesspersons in May of 2005, and was heavily in use the day after completion. |
Open from dawn to dusk, this park has a full-time Park Ranger as an overseer. It boasts a lovely sandy beach piled high with driftwood and logs at the high tide mark, barbecue pits, separate camping sites for RV's and tenters, playground, shelter for inclement weather, and a bath house. |
Located just a block from downtown Winslow's shopping area, this park offers tennis courts, picnicking, a youngsters' playground, boat ramp, public dock and a bandstand surrounded by spacious lawns for music lovers. |
