Bainbridge Island is active with festivals, concerts, home and garden tours, and other cultural events throughout the year. Please check out our list of coming events.

    Bainbridge Island Review
    An award winning, semi-weekly newspaper that is well-read, much loved, usually controversial, sometimes accurate, and often criticized by the residents of this "rock".

    Bainbridge Performing Arts
    Bainbridge Performing Arts is an umbrella organization with a wide reputation for excellence in theater productions, choral and symphony performances. It also provides an outstanding young people's training through their "Greasepaint" program. The community recently built a new flexible space theater

    Park District Events
    The Park District calendar lists cultural, sports, and special events held in our various parks and recreational facilities. It also lists activities held at the Senior Community Center and the Teen Center.

Annual Events

Annual events are sponsored by various community organizations throughout the year. These events add to the vitality of island living and contribute to that deeper sense of community we enjoy on the island.

    Cabin Fever Dance and Auction
    Chamber of Commerce midwinter dinner dance and auction

    Chilly Hilly Bike Event
    A challenging opening of the northwest biking season that temporarily inundates the island with thousands of colorful bicyclists

    Wild Hearts
    A celebration of volunteerism in the arts

    Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Cabaret
    A fun fund raiser for community arts organizations

    Japanese American Teriyaki Dinner
    Sponsored by the Japanese-American Community

    St.Patrick's Day Parade
    A spontaneous fun filled (sometimes rowdy) Main Street parade

    April

    Farmer's Market (until October)
    Fresh organic garden produce, local crafts, etc.

    Huck Finn / Becky Thatcher Fishing Derby
    A children's event sponsored by the Sportsman Club

    Spring Celebration and Egg Hunt
    Hosted by Team Winslow

    Spring Concert
    Performed by the Bainbridge Chorale

    Toe Jam Hill Mini-Marathon
    A foot race around the hilly South end of Bainbridge Island

    Port Madison Yacht Club Opening Day
    Local sailors parade their sailboats around Madison Bay and Port Madison

    Bainbridge in Bloom
    Tour six local gardens, sponsored by Bainbridge Arts and Humanities Council

    Bainbridge Bluegrass Festival
    All-day bluegrass music on a single stage with a family fun fair including food, children’s games and merchant’s booths.

    Summer Concerts in Waterfront Park
    Every Wednesday evening

    Grand Old Fourth
    Parade and street fair in downtown Winslow

    Old Timers Picnic
    Picnic and museum open house at Strawberry Hill Park

    Every Wednesday evening

    The Great Cross Sound Race
    This race started years ago as a challenge between two Bainbridge residents; it begins at Alki, rounds Blakely Rock and the Decatur reef buoy, and returns to Alki. Recent years have seen a hundred or so assorted boats, from fast shells and Olympic kayaks, to rowboats, pedal boats and outrigger canoes (8/25/01 at 9 a.m.).

    Outdoor Arts and Music Festival

    Oktoberfest
    A traditional German festival hosted by Bainbridge Winery ... Yep, just what you would imagine

    Around Bainbridge Island Rowing & Paddling Marathon
    A grueling race for conditioned and seasoned rowers and paddlers which circumnavigates the island from Faye Bainbridge Park (9/15/01 at 9 a.m.).

    Bainbridge Foundation Drive
    Our local version of United Way

    Halloween Trick or Treat Ghostly Evening
    A traditional downtown event

    Harvest Fair and Apple Days
    Public cider press, chili feed, farm animals and other festivities hosted by Bay Hay & Feed

    November

    Arts Walk

    Suquamish Cultural Celebration
    Native American cultural event sponsored by the Suquamish Tribe

    December

    Artist's Studio Tour
    Early December exhibit and sale by local artists

    Christmas Concert
    Performed by Bainbridge Chorale

    Tour country homes featuring a sale of crafts and seasonal creations

    Hanukkah Party
    Jewish Chavurah

    Japanese Mochi Tsuke
    Sponsored by Japanese-American Community

    Winslow becomes Santa's Workshop
    Evening shopping and celebrations in downtown Winslow ... Santa arrives by fire truck

    Santa's Sailors
    Santa and his helpers circumnavigate Bainbridge Island calling out the names of children in each waterfront community (names provided by parents, of course)
