Points of land jut out into water on both sides of Agate Pass providing good winter fishing for Blackmouth salmon. The minus tide beaches in this area are abundant with several types of clams, providing the perfect place picnics and family gatherings.
The sun can be so glorious on the West side of the Island that the first and only hospital (now a home) was built in Seabold for tubercular patients before WWI. There are several mini-farms on the West side, and their number is increasing (check out the Farmer's Market on Saturdays).
